How do you heart your sexuality?!

Here at IMPACT Program, we’re excited to announce the launch of our new Tumblr page! With the I Heart My Sexuality campaign, we hope to use the voices of our community to instill pride, show the strengths of LGBTQ youth, and tell stories about healthy relationships.

This project began back in 2009 at the Chicago Pride Festival and over the course of two years we collected nearly two hundred post cards at Pride and other LGBTQ events. We wanted to give people a space to write positive and encouraging notes on why they love their sexual orientation.

Each card asks “Why do you heart your sexuality?” The responses are everything from encouraging and cheerful to insightful and thought provoking, saying things like “I’m proud of everyone who isn’t afraid to be who they are and love who they want” and “Because the community is VERY supportive, plus I have an incredible boyfriend!!” Though the post cards are all unique, they share an affirming and positive outlook on sexuality and LGBTQ identity.

We’ll be posting new responses every day so make sure to follow us at and tell us why you heart your sexuality! Also, check out our other page – – to get information on our current projects and find other LGBTQ resources.

The I Heart My Sexuality campaign also includes positive and affirming videos. Check out the videos, done in partnership with BeyondMedia Education, on the I Heart My Sexuality main page.

The IMPACT Program’s internet-based education and outreach programs are funded in part by the William T. Grant Foundation.
